Edward J. Short, 82, of Unity Township, died Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. He was born September 10, 1942 in Latrobe, a son of the late Edward J. and Eva (Baughman) Short. He served 20 years in the US Army with the 534th Military Police Company including service during the Vietnam War and received a bronze star. After the military Ed was a letter carrier with the US Postal Service in Monroeville. He loved bowling having bowled multiple 300 games and was a member of the former Derry VFW. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Rohaly and 2 sisters, Louise Reffo and Gail Moore. He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. (Comp) Short, a son, Edward J. Short, Jr. of Monroeville, 2 daughters, Lynn Sallash and husband Robert of Emmaus, PA and Edie Short of Pemberton Township, NJ, 5 grandchildren, Alexander Short, Courteney Chamberlain, Ryan Amendolia and Robbie and Aaron Sallash, a sister, Patricia Smith and husband Richard of Derry and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 AM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity where funeral services will be held at 11 AM with The Rev. David H. Clement officiating. Military honors by VFW Post #33 honor guard and interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
