Dorothy A. (Reinard) Whitehead, known as “Dottie” to many, 84, of Youngwood (formerly of Indiana), entered the loving arms of Jesus at home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday June 17, 2025. She was born in Indiana PA, to the late Donald and Nellie Erma Reinard. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Donald Whitehead in 2024 and brother John Reinard. She was the loving mother of Deborah (John) Layman, Larry (Daisha) Whitehead, Donna McLean, adoptive mother of Rebecca Whitehead and Vincent Robertson. Dorothy had 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister Donna Miller, a brother Donald Reinard and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy co-founded Whitehead Personal Care Home with her late husband Donald Whitehead where many called her “mom”. She provided love, care and a family setting to many throughout the years and she delighted in caring for the elderly and less privileged. She passionately provided her love and compassion and sacrificed much to help anyone who needed help. Dorothy devoted her life to serving Jesus and leading others to know Jesus. She will be remembered as being a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and business owner. Dorothy was the orchestrator behind the large holiday gatherings of family and friends, always with an overabundance of food. Dorothy was constantly requested to make her famous baked beans and her even more popular nutrolls. She always made sure everyone’s favorite foods were amply provided. Dorothy was an avid reader of the Bible and novels, usually with her dog sleeping on her lap. She enjoyed building complex puzzles, playing card games and board games with her family and friends. A private Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the Christian Church Center. The family asks if anyone is so moved donations can be made in Dorothy’s memory to the LoveShines Ministry, in accordance with Dorothy’s wishes. LEO M.
