Obituary
Doris F. Wood, 96, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, where she was a resident since 2003. She was born September 24, 1925 in Donora, a daughter of the late Garnet and Ava (Lowery) Brackett. She was a graduate of Donora High School class of 1943 then attended Duffs Iron City Business College. Prior to retirement in 1986 she worked at Westmoreland Hospital and previously at Nail Supply Co. in Pittsburgh and US Steel in Donora. Doris was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg, Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of Scotia. She was very active with local chapter 3895 of the AARP where she served 5 years as secretary and also volunteered at the Westmoreland Historical Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Wood whom she married May 24, 1947 and her sister, Nell Stapleton. She is survived by her son, Christopher J. Wood and wife Patricia of Humphreys, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, when a funeral service will be held with The Rev. Dr. Martin R. Ankrum officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
