Diane A. Sledge, 86, of Greensburg, PA, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. She was born on September 28, 1938, in Greensburg and was a graduate of Greensburg High School. Diane pursued her passion for helping others by earning her nursing degree from Robert Morris Nursing School.
Diane had a deep love for sports and was an avid fan of basketball, football, and track and field. Her compassionate spirit led her to work with the Weingart Center—a nonprofit medical organization in Los Angeles, CA, dedicated to providing care for the underserved.
In addition to her work in healthcare, Diane was a talented songwriter and a member of the ASAP Music Association. She wrote and composed the song "Can’t Live on Promises."
She was preceded in death by her father, William T. Sledge, and her mother, Lillie Mae (Ray) Sanders.
Diane is survived by her five children, James “JC” Felton (Greta), Darnell Felton, Lisa Felton-Lewis (Lucious), Rene Besozzi-Felton, and Diane Lyles-Derry (Scott); her beloved sister, Ruth Kirkling (Alvin); and a host of grandchildren, Hilton Earle, Miranda Felton (James “JC”), Brandolyn Felton-Ernest, Haleigh Felton, Keith Felton (Darnell), Nefertiti Lewis, Demetrius Lewis, Joshua Lewis (Lisa), Andrew Howe, Jeremy Besozzi (Rene), KC Short, and Shawn Short (Diane). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; many cherished nieces and nephews; and her loving family, Rev. Barbara Felton and Rev. Curtis Felton, Pastor Roy Akins and Tina Akins, and Tonya Gibbs.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 11 AM at Bethel AME Church, Greensburg. Everyone please go directly to the church.
