Diane E. (Smail) Holbrook

Diane E. (Smail) Holbrook, 68, of Latrobe, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, September 4, 2023. She was born April 11, 1955, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late George P. and Lois Jane (Herring) Smail. She was the heart and strength of the family and the life of the party. She loved family, wine, the Eagles, movies and popcorn, game nights and hot fudge sundaes. Diane “Gooch” was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School Class of 1973. She was a motorcycle riding wife, a hockey mom and lullaby singing Nana. She battled her illnesses with grace and courage, and she will be incredibly missed.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Uhrinek.  She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Douglas E. Holbrook; her children, Lucas Holbrook (Amanda) and Rachel Koontz (Rick); grandson Landon Holbrook; four brothers, George Bradley Smail (Lynn), Donald Smail (Suzanne), Thomas Smail (Nancy), and Ken Smail (Kim); three sisters, Judy McChesney (John), Lisa Hughes, and Amy Cornell (Keith); sister- in- law, Dawn Wright (Marty); beloved dog, Lilly, and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral service will begin at 7:30 PM in the funeral home with The Rev. Martin Wright officiating.
