David P. Silvis, 91, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home. He was born March 17, 1934, in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles O. and Edith (Deemer) Silvis. David retired from Hempfield Township Road Department and previously worked at Silvis Farm and Borgman’s Dairy. He enjoyed all aspects of farming throughout his life. David was proud of his first project after retiring, restoring a 1939 Farmall M tractor. He was a graduate of Greensburg High School Class of 1953 and a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David S. Silvis; his son-in-law, Dave Cortazzo; two brothers, Charles H. and James O. Silvis; and three sisters, Mary Jane Henry, Margaret Gibson, and Evelyn Fink. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Teresa (Stoila) Silvis; three daughters, Vickie Wille (Dan), Cheryl Cortazzo, and Wendy Gillis (Randy); eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Lorena Silvis and Nancy Silvis; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg, PA 15601. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Harrold Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
