David J. Cortazzo, 67, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born January 3, 1954, in Braddock, a son of Angeline M. (Veltri) Cortazzo, of Darragh, and the late Carmine J. Cortazzo Sr. He was a graduate of Juniata College where he was a three-time letterman in football. He played in the first ever Division III football national championship in 1973. Prior to retirement he had been employed by the United States Postal Service. He attended Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl A. (Silvis) Cortazzo; his son, Conor R. Cortazzo, of Greensburg; his daughter, Erica M. Shuglie (Jason), of Greensburg; three grandsons, Noa Cortazzo, and Carson and Owen Shuglie; his brother, Carmine J. Cortazzo Jr. (Denise), of Home, PA; his sister, Lynn A. Garber (Andy), of Bethlehem, WV; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Thursday and 4 to 8 PM Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Additional visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2 PM with Pastor Caroline Clifford and Pastor James West co-officiating. Interment will follow in Harrold Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family requires face masks to be worn in the funeral home and at church.
