Dale "Dutch" Bloom, 82, of Lycippus, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, when Heaven opened up and welcomed him home. He was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Dry Hill, a son of the late Frank H. and Ethel (Hall) Bloom. He attended Scottdale High School and served with the Army and National Guard. Prior to retirement, he was a crane operator at Standard Steel, Latrobe. Dale was a member of Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, where he served on a number of church boards over the years and loved singing and the fellowship of the church choir. He was a self-taught harmonica player and played it at church, the cancer center, in the hospital and on his back porch for his wife Marty and their Westie Molly. Dutch was an avid baseball player in Connellsville and later locally played softball and was an umpire in the Valley league. A resident of Lycippus for 56 years, one of his greatest joys was providing and maintaining a small farm so his wife Marty could enjoy her love of horses. Dale was passionate about grounds keeping with his John Deere tractor and sharing his garden produce. A natural born teacher, he taught various life skills to his children and grandchildren. His joys in life included his son playing football, his daughter with her 4-H champion hog, swimming with his kids, hosting extended family picnics and gatherings, sled riding with grandchildren, helping his kids with house remodeling, watching John Wayne movies and also food and friends at the Country Cafe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Raymond, Merle, Frank Jr., Robert, Francis Ray, Kenneth and Melvin Bloom and three sisters, Alma Jean Bushmire Rodgers, Betty Bloom and Carolyn Roebuck. He is survived by his wife, Martha J. "Marty" (Monticue) Bloom; two children, MarDee Ivory and husband, Robert, of Alice, and Dale Bloom Jr. and wife, Stacey Jo, of Kecksburg; three grandchildren, Andrew Bloom and fiance, Tyler Katenbrink, Ally Bloom and fiance, Johnny Yester, and Sarah Ivory Perfetta and husband, Trent; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, at which time funeral services will be held. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, Fuel Oil Fund, P.O.
