Charles D. Takitch, 92, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born October 31, 1933, in Mount Pleasant, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Julia (Kopkas) Takitch. After graduating from Hurst High School in 1951, he went on to serve in the US Air Force, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen MD. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Laurel Vending Company as Vice-President and General Manager. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, and he was a life-long member of the Hecla Sportsman Club. Charlie loved all sports, was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, and he loved local sports as well. He took pride in the coaching that he did in his younger years for the Latrobe Little League, the Latrobe-Derry Teener League, and managing the Latrobe American Legion Baseball Team. Charlie enjoyed golfing, both locally and on his annual trips to Hilton Head Island. Charlie was a person who liked to keep busy, and he helped so many of his friends and relatives throughout his long life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick A. Takitch and 11 siblings: Pauline, Julia, John, Edward, Joseph, George, Eugene, Helen, James, Robert, and Margaret. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalyn M. (Hollick) Takitch, his three children, David C. Takitch (Molly) of Youngstown, PA, Gary M. Takitch (Kathy) of Greensburg, Beth A. Miller (Rocky) of Medical Lake, WA, a daughter-in-law, Tammy J. Takitch, of Latrobe, Rosalyn’s two children, Joseph Bertoncini and Ivy Fessenbecker (and their families), his nine grandchildren, Nathan Takitch (Kelsey), Lindsay Firestone (Kurt), Lauren Takitch, Joshua Miller, Brandon Takitch (Emily), Sarah Takitch (fiancé Luke Shaffer), Daniel Miller, Gabrielle Takitch and Benjamin Takitch, his six great-grandchildren, Layne, Collins, Tage, and Ace Takitch and Amelia and Alivia Firestone, and a sister, Mary Agnes Dillon of Mt. Pleasant, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 4 PM to 6 PM, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, PA. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10 AM, at Visitation Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, PA. Private inurnment in Visitation Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in honor of Charlie to The American Heart Association.
