October 3, 1955 ~ March 26, 2022 (age 66)

Charles G. McNerny, 66, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 26, 2022.  Chuck was born October 3, 1955, in Greensburg to Betty M. (Claspy) McNerny, Southwest Greensburg and the late Richard H. McNerny.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Kathleen T. (Quinn) McNerny; his daughter, Katie L. and husband Gregory P. Dooley, of Fort Collins, CO; his son, Daniel Q. and wife Erin M. (Gatenby), of Indianapolis; and his beloved granddaughters, Dorah K. and Tessa R.  Chuck is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard H. and Janet E. (Mundell) McNerny, of Greensburg; niece, Kristy E. and her husband James A. Besada; nephew, Richard A. McNerny and his wife Leah A. Milcarek; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chuck is a Greensburg Salem alum, and he graduated from Grove City College in 1977.  He worked as an engineer at Kennametal from 1979-2019 before being promoted to his dream job of Grandad.  He enjoyed planning holidays and activities for his family, working in his yard and garden with his wife, playing guitar, and later sketching.

He will be loved and remembered by his family for his work ethic and humor, his ability to quote lines from "A Christmas Story”, and mostly for his unwavering devotion, support and love for his family, children, and grandchildren. His granddaughters will know his love always, as they are the greatest gifts he ever received. He spent his final years living to watch them laugh, smile, and grow.

There will be no public visitation or funeral service.  LEO M.
