Charles W. Kovach, 83, of Greensburg, died Monday, November 13, 2023, at Weatherwood Manor, Greensburg. He was born April 16, 1940, in Twin Rocks, PA, a son of the late James J. and Helen A. (Buoite) Kovach. Charles served in the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer during the Vietnam War. During his time in the service, he traveled with his family to, Virginia Beach, Greece, New Jersey, Bermuda, Pennsylvania, and many places on the ships. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, Herminie, and Catholic by Faith. He continued his military career at Bettis Plant traveling on the trains and acquiring the name “Caboose.” After retiring from the Navy, Charles worked at the State Correctional Institute, Greensburg as a purchasing agent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Valentine Kovach, Esther Harris (Al), Joseph Kovach, and Lewis Kovach (Denise). He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ingeborg K. (Welzel) Kovach; two daughters, Diana Colflesh (Robert) and Dolores Rendulich (Anthony), two grandchildren, Marissa Rendulich and Anthony C. Rendulich; one brother, James Kovach (Kate); one sister, Helen Kovach; two sisters-in-law, Delores Kovach, and JoAnn Kovach; and several nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 PM at LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg with Pastor Dave Lingsch officiating. Full miliary honors will be accorded by the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. www.bachafh.com
