Charles H. Hines, 93, of Pleasant Unity, died Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was born December 10, 1931 in Woodsville, Ohio, a son of the late George H. and Bernice C. (Stoffell) Hines. Chuck worked for the former Farm Bureau, then the former Bennett’s Dairy both in Greensburg and retired from Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company in Kecksburg. He later worked at the former James P. Gaut and Gaut-Bacha Funeral Home. He enjoyed playing games with his grandchildren, trips to Myrtle Beach and being an umpire for the Valley Softball League. Chuck was part of the former Country Café afternoon 2:00 pm coffee crew and was known by many as the unofficial “Mayor” of Pleasant Unity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Richardson, Hazel Palmer and Georgia Taylor and his brother, Philip M. Hines. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marcella L. “Sally” (Rudy) Hines, 2 sons, Gary R. Hines and wife Cheryl of Greensburg and Gregory L. Hines and wife Joanne of Mt. Pleasant, 3 grandchildren, Timothy Hines (Sarah), Julie Thornberry (Drew) and Stacey Porath (Kevin), a step grandson, Wade Hoke, Jr., 4 great grandchildren, Vida and Taimen Hines and Charlotte and Landon Porath, a step great grandson, Bryce Hoke and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday with The Rev. Jason E. Schweinberg officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Unity Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 197, Pleasant Unity, PA 15676.
