Carolyn Sue Gongaware

Carolyn Sue (Clendenen) Gongaware was born August 3, 1944, in Marlinton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George W. Clendenen and Ruth (Cutlip) Clendenen. She was a 1962 graduate of Sewickley High School in Herminie and a 1965 graduate of The West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. She also graduated in 1995 from Carlow College with her BSN. She worked for many years at Westmoreland Hospital, first in the Coronary Care Unit and then in the Recovery Room. Her last 8 years of working was in the medical office at West Penn Power, in Greensburg. Sue was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg a member of the Westmoreland Area Nurses Association, and the New Neighbors of Greensburg Organization. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Sue enjoyed working in the yard, traveling with her friends, knitting, and especially looked forward to her trips to California to visit with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Charles L. Gongaware; her daughter and son-in-law, Kristine (Skrabski) and Tony Snyder of Huntington Beach, Ca.; and her grandson, Dylan Cole Snyder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg or Action for Animals Humane Society in Latrobe.
