Betty Jane (Chedrick) Testa, 89, passed peacefully on May 14, 2026, at her home, surrounded by those she loved.
She was born on December 26, 1936 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late John, Jr. and Rose M. (Starenchak) Chedrick.
In her early life, she worked at Westmoreland Hospital, but her proudest accomplishment was being the perfect wife, mom, grandma/great grandma and homemaker. She was THAT wife that took her vows seriously and loved her husband, Lawrence, fiercely. She was THAT mother who was always a phone call away for anything, and she was THAT grandma who was down on the floor playing or reading books.
Betty was a long-standing member of St. Bruno’s Church. She was active in St. Bruno’s Rosary Altar Society and the Hempfield Garden Club. She volunteered her time at St. Vincent DePaul and Westmoreland Manor. Betty was a pro-word searcher, had an amazing green thumb and she was a phenomenal cook and baker. She was always proud to share her recipes. She especially enjoyed her 8:00 am Coffee Club with love and laughter from her two special nieces, Donna and Gail, and many guest appearances from family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Lawrence R. Testa; three children, Larry (Darlene) Testa, Vince (Carla) Testa, and Theresa (Marcus) Zamagias; a brother, Daniel (Mary) of Greensburg; a sister, Ruth (Karl) Shamberger of Mt. Pleasant, SC; six grandchildren, Angelo (Alison) Testa, Carmen (Bre) Testa, Domenic Testa, Alexis Zamagias, Catrina Testa and Augustus Zamagias; four great grandchildren, Enzo, Rocco, Cade and Nolan Testa and many nieces and nephews who considered her to be a surrogate mom/grandma.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, (infant) John III, Donald and Joseph N. Chedrick.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Sunday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. www.bachafh.com. The St. Bruno Parish Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary at 3:30 PM Sunday, prior to visitation. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Monday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Bruno Catholic Church, Greensburg. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
If you had the privilege of knowing Betty, you know she was kind and gracious. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched….
