Betty E. Leair, 94, of Lycippus, died Sunday, May 12, 2024 in Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born December 1, 1929 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Robert M. and Bernetta M. (Roadman) Sindorf. She previously worked at the former Baum’s Nursing Home in Pleasant Unity and the former Howard Johnson’s in New Stanton. Betty enjoyed crocheting, gardening and sewing and was a member of Church of the Brethren, Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orvis E. Leair, Sr., a son, Orvis E. Leair, Jr., 2 sisters, Helen Quist and Isabelle Wineland and a brother, Robert Smeltzer. She is survived by a son, Gary L. Leair and wife Kathryn, her daughter, Melanie G. Plummer all of Latrobe, 4 grandchildren, Christy Queer (Scott), Deborah Richardson (Nathaniel), David Plummer and Stephen Plummer, 3 great grandchildren, Parker Queer, Brooke Richardson and Reid Richardson and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday with The Rev. David L. Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
