Bernard Cobetto Obituary

Bernard J. Cobetto, 73, of Greensburg, died Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home.  He was born September 6, 1951, in Newport, Rhode Island, a son of the late Dr. Bernard H. and Ellen J. (Depcrymski) Cobetto. Prior to retirement, Bernie had worked as the Director of Child Welfare for Westmoreland County and later retired from Wyeth Laboratories. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Bernie was a member of the first basketball team at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was a member of Hannastown Golf Club and the AMS Club, South Greensburg. He enjoyed restoring treasures; some would even say he was a junque collector. Most importantly though was spending time with and being the best Poppy to his two beloved grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jon Cobetto.  He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Polechko) Cobetto; his daughter, Amanda Faust (Luke); two grandsons, Ty and Lincoln Faust; five siblings, Greg Cobetto (Mary Claire), Eileen Carfang (Dan), Lissa Cobetto, Jeanne Finley (Gene), and Chris Cobetto (Laura); sister-in-law, Michele Fayish (Chuck); brother-in-law, Kelly Polechko; and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral liturgy will begin at 11 AM Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The family would like to thank Excela Hospice for their loving and compassionate care for Bernie.  www.bachafh.com
