Anthony Folino Obituary

Anthony F. Folino, 87, of Southwest Greensburg, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Anthony was born August 31,1933 in Wall, PA.  The son of the late Samuel and Esther (Romano) Folino. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, James.  Anthony is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances, beloved daughters Valerie Fox of Aldie, Virginia and Vickie (John) Bush of Las Vegas, Nevada, his sister, Mary Jane Short presently from Strongsville, Ohio, and brother Robert (Cathy) Folino of Lawrence, PA.  Anthony is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Austin Fox and Braelynn Bush, niece Melissa Folino, and nephews James Ross, Gordon Short, Gregory Short, Robert Folino, and Ryan Folino.  Anthony graduated from Pitcairn High School in 1951.  He went on to serve a tour of duty in Germany with the United States Army from 1956-58.  Anthony worked for the Continental Can Company for 20 years before relocating to Westmoreland County where he worked at Volkswagen of America for an additional 10 years.  He eventually retired from Jeanette Hospital where he worked as a nurse’s aide for six years.  Anthony was a huge baseball fan and was a coach for the Pitcairn Little League for 10 years.  He also enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.  His favorite team, by far however, was his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team. Anthony was an ardent fan of the team and made several pilgrimages out to South Bend, Indiana to watch the team play.  In addition to following his favorite sports teams, Anthony also enjoyed going to breakfast several times a month with his good buddies, Tom Riley, Doug Bailey, and Chris Feltz. Anthony was a long-standing parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church and was a member of the Greensburg Chapter 1480 of the Knights of Columbus and the Seton Assembly 914. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg. Inurnment will be private at St. Clair Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anthony’s favorite charities:  St. Joseph’s Indian School 1301 N.
