Wendell M. Keck, 96, of Mt. Pleasant Township, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born February 10, 1922 in Kecksburg, a son of the late Martin Iruh and Carrie (Umstead) Keck. He was a graduate of Hurst High School and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He was a Master Sergeant with the 5th Air Force, 35th fighter control squadron having served 45 months in the Southwest Pacific, Australia, New Guinea, Newemfore and Phillipine Islands. Prior to retirement he worked 25 years at the former Will G. Keck Bottling Inc. then 25 years at Pepsi Cola Bottling of Kecksburg. Mr. Keck was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe, and past member of the Trinity Men’s Choir. He was a member of Loyalhanna Lodge #275 F. & A.M. of Latrobe, Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Pittsburgh and Tall Cedars Westmoreland Forest #77. He was a member of Greensburg Art Center, American Legion Post #446 in Mt. Pleasant and the former Latrobe Art Club, and also former member of Ward Wildlife Foundation and Keystone Carvers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary (Honse) Keck, a grandson, David C. Keck; and his sister, Louise Feitknecht. He is survived by 5 sons, W. Martin, V. David and wife Joann and Mehrl Ed all of Unity Township, Timothy R. and wife Karen of Blairsville and W. Hans Keck of Norvelt; 3 grandchildren, Larissa L. Csanyi and husband Jason of Blairsville, Rachel R. Piper and husband Scott of Unity Township and Jacob C. Keck of Norvelt; a great grandson, Mason Piper; his brother, John Martin Keck of Tempe, AZ; and 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, where funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday with The Rev. Jeffrey L. Schock officiating. Military honors by the Armbrust Veterans and interment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township. In lieu of flowers Wendell suggested memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, 108 Dutch Hill Road, Latrobe, PA 15650. Loyalhanna Lodge #275 F. & A.M. will conduct a masonic service at 7 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
