Thomas "Gene" E. Smith

Thomas E. “Gene” Smith, 88, of Greensburg, died Friday, March 16, 2018 in Greensburg Care Center.  He was born March 9, 1930 in Greensburg, a son of the late Edward and Sophia (Smith) Shalkowski.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by Overmyer Mould, Greensburg and later Mould Master, Youngwood.  Thomas was an Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.  He is survived by his wife Jean T. (Thomas) Smith; two sons, Roy Eugene Smith and wife Laura, of Michigan and Russell Thomas Smith and wife Susan, of Florida; his daughter, Christine Elizabeth McWilliams and husband Mark, of Maryland; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, Edward Joe Shalkowski and wife Nancy, of Indiana.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral service will begin at 11 AM Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Donna Havrisko officiating.  Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the VFW Post #33 Honor Guard.  www.bachafh.com
