Robert M. Smith

Robert M. Smith, 72, of South Greensburg, formerly of Mutual, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born March 14, 1946, in Connellsville, a son of the late Michael M. and Olive R. (Bisel) Smith. Robert was a Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, and had been a member of the VFW and American Legion. Prior to retirement, he worked as a corrections officer at SCI Fayette and previously at SCI West Penn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Harry Smith; and a sister, Margaret Bisel. He is survived by two children, Jerome E. Smith and wife, Kimberly, of Apollo, and Shannon R. Smith, of Mutual; six grandchildren, Derek, Tristan, Misty, Kylian, Gavin and Claudia; three sisters, Violet Basinger and husband, George, of Everson, Barbara Mayo, of Jeannette, and Robin Krisnosky and husband, Daniel, of Penn; two brothers, James L. and wife, Barbara, of New Stanton, and Charles M. Smith and wife, Charmaine, of Ligonier; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity, at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. David L. Greer officiating.
