Marden E. (Davis) Ankney

Marden E. Ankney, 77, of Hunker went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on October 5, 1939 in New Stanton to the late Kenneth and Erma (DuVall) Davis.  Marden was the beloved wife of Robert H. Ankney and loving mother to her four daughters, Susan Fierst and husband David, Vickie Queer and husband George Edwin, Kathy Evans and husband Robert and Judy Ankney and life partner Jan.  She was a grandmother to six; and great-grandmother to seven.  Marden is also survived by two cherished sisters, Maridell Detwiller and husband Victor and Faith Zierdt and husband Bill.  Marden was proceeded in death by her beloved late sisters and brother Bethelda, Jane and Meredith Davis.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Marden was a dedicated and beloved school teacher for over 30 years in the Hempfield School District retiring in 1995.  She was the recipient of the Positive Teaching Award at West Point Elementary School.  Marden was very dedicated to her Lord and her church holding many roles at the Armbrust Wesleyan Church.  She served as Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, Christian Youth Crusaders Director and was a past District Conference Delegate.  She also served as the Joy Fellowship Treasurer.  She loved organizing the Mother /Daughter Banquet and did so for many years!  Marden was the 20 year recipient of The Dedicated Service Award to the Wesleyan Women’s Organization and the Lord through the ministry of the Wesleyan Women.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity.  Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 10 AM Thursday in the Armbrust Wesleyan Church, 7790 Route 819, Armbrust where a Christian Memorial Service will begin at 10 AM.  Interment will follow in Lycippus Community Cemetery, Unity Township.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hephzibah Children’s Home, 6601 Zebulon Rd., Macon, Georgia 31220 or Global Partners, PO Box 50434, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250.  www.bachafh.com
