John W. Keslar Sr., 87, of Pleasant Unity, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 at his home. He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Acme, a son of the late John L. and Birdie D. (Lankey) Keslar. He served in the Army during the Korean War, was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United, and life member of Little Sewickley Sportsmens Club. Prior to retirement, he worked for Operating Engineers Local No. 66 at Noralco Corp. He was a bird watcher and avid gardener, enjoyed hunting, and especially loved spending time with his family more than anything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia R. (Lesko) Keslar; two brothers, Charles D. and James R. Keslar; his sister, Lucy Princler; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Princler. He is survived by four children, Cynthia Forbes and husband, Kevin, of Mt. Pleasant, Joyce Sullivan and husband, Bill, at home, and John W. Keslar Jr. and wife, Kim, and Michael Keslar and wife, Kris, all of Pleasant Unity; seven grandchildren, Ryan Forbes, Carrie Ferrenberg, Matt Keslar and wife, Jessie, Lea Frye and husband, Alex, Danny Keslar, and Lori and April Smartnick; and 12 great-grandchildren, Halie, Mackenzie, Kendra, Amelia, Aubrie, Grady, Molly, Arianna, Jalynn, Jaxon, Addy and Cashius. He is also survived by three brothers, Harry T. and wife, Helen, of Scottdale, Robert and wife, Norma, of Ohio, and Richard F. Keslar and wife, Marge, of Wooddale; two sisters-in-law, Helen and Benita Keslar; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Prayers will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed at noon by a funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Florian Catholic Church, United, with the Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant.
