John B. Jaros, 73, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born and raised in Connellsville, a son of the late John B. and Gladys (Bird) Jaros. He was a retired educator in the Avella Area School District. Prior to his teaching career, he served 25 years in the Navy with the rank of MMC during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the VFW Post 21, Connellsville, American Legion, Post 981, South Greensburg, and the Miners Club Inc., Richeyville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Carol Stephens and Kathy Herbert. He is survived by his wife, Evette (Faraci) Jaros; his stepson, Lenny Chan and his wife, Jennifer Daurora, of Pittsburgh; his stepdaughter, Renee Priester and her husband, Ryan, of Irwin; his sister, Mary Crise, of Greensburg; his brother-in-law, Wayne F. Herbert, of Connellsville; and several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Rascal. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg, with the Rev. John M. Smaligo officiating.
