Janet Lynn West of Jeannette, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg after a series of illnesses at the age of 71.  She was born November 6, 1945, a daughter of the late Dr. Joe L. West and Elizabeth (Coulson) West.  She grew up in Spanish Villa, Jeannette with her friends and neighbors from the “Villa.”  Janet was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School, the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Salem College in Virginia.  She was employed by Mercy Jeannette Hospital for 36 years until her retirement in 2006.  She was a member of the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital Retirees.  She loved to read and she loved her cocker spaniels: Bella, Abby and Babe.  She loved to spend holidays and special occasions with her family and friends.  Everyone who knew her loved her for her happy, friendly personality.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother: Robert James West.  She is survived by her brother: David West and wife Linda of Greensburg; nephew: Brian West of Greensburg; nephews: Jeffery West and wife Vanda, Scott West; her niece Tracy Plassio and husband John of North Huntingdon; and three great-nieces: Nicole, Katie and Alley.  Honoring Janet’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Westmoreland County Food Bank, 100 Devonshire Drive, Delmont, PA 15626 or the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, P.O. Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601.  A remembrance celebration will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2 PM at Ferrante’s Lakeview Lounge.  LEO M.
