Archie N. Bossart

Archie N. Bossart, 89, of Pleasant Unity, died Monday, April 16, 2018 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.  He was born August 9, 1928 in Stahlstown, a son of the late Arch H. and Catherine C. (Myers) Bossart.  Prior to retirement he worked at Westinghouse in West Mifflin and previously in Youngwood.  Archie was a US Army veteran and member of VFW Post #8643, Pleasant Unity.  He has been involved with the Boy Scouts for over 56 years having received the Silver Beaver Award and was scoutmaster of troop 323.  He was a life member of Little Sewickley and Trauger Sportsmen’s Clubs, member of PA Cleanways and past president of Westmoreland County Sportsmen’s League where he helped with the conservation school for over 40 years and was the voice of the bear at their annual display at the Westmoreland County Fair.  Archie was a member of Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church where he served on a number of committees and was a longtime trustee of Pleasant Unity Methodist Cemetery where he served as grass mower for many years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends at the family Hi Pole camp in McKean County and also enjoyed teaching kids hunting and fishing and was a loving father and grandfather.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife:  Elsie J. (Hoverman/Dreistadt) Bossart; 5 brothers, Richard, Carl, Jerry, Wayne and Samuel Bossart; and his sister, Isabelle McGinnis.  He is survived by 3 children, Joyce E. Thomas and husband Robert of Latrobe, Jay N. Bossart of Pleasant Unity and Jan A. Bossart and wife Valerie of Latrobe; 3 granddaughters, Bobbi Lynn Loveridge, Lindsay Joy Mosovsky and husband Terry and Shannon Rae Bossart; many nieces and nephews and family pets, Pugsy Wasgy Woo, Little Bea, Neyley and Indy.  Friends will be received from 6 to 8 PM Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity.  Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday in Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church with Pastor Kimberly L. Foos officiating.  Please go directly to the church.  Private interment in Pleasant Unity Methodist Cemetery, Unity Township.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Unity Methodist Cemetery, c/o 3975 Route 982, Latrobe, PA  15650.
