Violet C. Rhome, 91, of Bovard, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born May 23, 1926 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Oshefsky) Plonsky. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree. Violet loved playing bingo and playing cards with her sisters several times a week. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Rhome; a son: Earl Rhome; a daughter: Kate Shepherd; infant grandson: John Suchora; infant granddaughter: Lindsay Johnson; and grandson: John Rhome; 2 sisters: Mary Zyvith and Verna Dennell; 2 brothers: John Plonsky and George Plonsky. She is survived by 3 sons: Richard Rhome, of Bovard; Daniel Rhome (Pam), of Bovard; and George Rhome (Debbie), of South Connellsville; 3 daughters: Nadine Yokopenic (Jim), of Greensburg; Janice Weltz (Alan), of Houston, TX and Janet Johnson (Lawrence), of Bovard; 13 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; 2 brothers: Ed Plonsky (Maryann), of Ohio and Stan Plonsky (Virginia), of Greensburg; 3 sisters: Helen Minyon, of Texas; Ann Ohr, of Greensburg and Stella Geiger, of Jeannette; a sister-in-law: Betty Plonsky, of Bovard; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Honoring Violet’s wishes there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral liturgy at 11 AM Monday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg with the Rev. Justin Matro, OSB, officiating. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
