Sylvia Rolla Obituary

Sylvia L. Rolla, 76, of Latrobe, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at her home in Derry Township.  She was born December 29, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant Township, a daughter of the late Merle C. Sr. and Viola (Dillinger) Brown.  Prior to retirement she worked at Life Service Systems in Greensburg and previously at The Little Shop at Latrobe Hospital.  Sylvia was a dedicated wife and cherished mother.  She had great pride in her children and her immaculately clean house.  She loved to read, write letters and send cards to special people in her life.  Sylvia loved to host parties looking for any occasion to welcome family and friends into her home.  She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Sylvia was an advocate for organ donation and intended to have her body donated to scientific research.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbi Jo Rolla; 4 brothers, Carl, Homer, Gerald, and D. Glenn Brown; and 2 sisters, Carrie Legas and Doris Haase.  She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Rolla; 2 sons, Todd Rolla and wife Karen of Latrobe and Terry Rolla and wife Lori of Greensburg; a daughter, Kris Detar and husband Chris of Greensburg; 6 grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Yohman, Amber, Michael and Ricky Rolla and Brennan Klimchock; 4 great grandchildren, Reese, Emily, Hailey and Carly; a sister, Ethel Ridenour of Latrobe; 3 brothers, Phillip H. of North Carolina, Merle C. Jr. of Unity Township and Larry B. Brown of Latrobe; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Phyllis Berkey; and lifelong friend Janet Cox.  Per Sylvia’s wishes there will be no public visitation.  Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at 11 AM Friday in The Church of God, 4017 1st Avenue, Youngstown, with Pastor Ralph Campbell, III officiating.  Inurnment in Lycippus Community Cemetery, Unity Township.  The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bethlen Hospice for their excellent care and compassionate hearts.  Leo M.
