Welcome to the memorial page for

George A. Yerina

July 16, 1931 ~ December 30, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

George A. Yerina, 86, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2017 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg Campus. He was born on July 16, 1931 in Claridge, a son of the late Rudolph and Anna (Kratofil) Yerina. George was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Marguerite. He was a man of deep faith and practicing his religion was part of his daily life. George was the previous owner and past president of Greensburg Waterproofing Co., Inc. He began his career as a bricklayer for Raimondo Brothers Construction and his love of the trade enabled him to establish his own company in the mid 1960’s. He was dearly loved by all of his customers and continued to visit some of them even as his health began to fail. His 50 year membership to the Bricklayers Union was a source of great pride to him. George’s greatest attribute was his devout love for his wife Mary, and their family. George and Mary were married for 60 years and were inseparable. They loved to travel and visited Italy three times in their lifetime. He adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and inspired all with his quick wit, wisdom and generosity. George was an Army Veteran receiving an honorable discharge during the Korean War. He was a 50 year member of the Greensburg Country Club and the Men’s Golf Association. George was an enthusiastic Steeler fan and was a season ticket holder for four decades until his passing. He was proud of Claridge heritage and was an avid bowler and member of the Slovenian Club and Blue Room. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Raimondo) Yerina. He is survived by a son, Daniel G. (Patricia) Yerina, of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Marilyn (Christopher) Day, of Lebanon and Cynthia (Anthony III) Santone, of Greensburg; nine grandchildren, Lauren (Craig) Havens; Steven (Christie) Day; Sara, Michael, Alexander and Steven Yerina; Anthony IV, Christina and Stephanie Santone; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Ellie Havens; a brother, Robert Yerina of Clarence, NY and several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in St. Benedict Catholic Church, Marguerite. Everyone please go directly to the church. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of UPMC Magee Hospital as well as the staff at Redstone Highlands and the Hospice caregivers.
