Edward J. Schmidt, 65, of Southwest Greensburg, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.  He was born March 29, 1952 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John Adam, Jr. and Vera L. (Litz) Schmidt.  Prior to retirement he had been employed by Redstone Highlands, Greensburg.  He was a graduate of Duquense University with a degree in Music Education.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Jerry L. (Watson) Schmidt; their son: Jay E. Schmidt and wife Elizabeth of New Castle; his sister: Carole Verscharen and husband Robert of Ligonier; and several nieces and nephews.  Honoring Ed’s wishes all services will be private.  LEO M.
