Betty Gillis

Betty (Tremba) Gillis, 83, of South Greensburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Hempfield Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 28, 1934 in Verona, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Agnich) Tremba.  Betty graduated from Verona High School in 1952. After high school she graduated from Robert Morris School of Business in 1954, where she met her husband John R. Gillis. John and Betty were married in 1956. After raising their three children, Betty worked at Sears in the Accounting Department and later as a sales associate before retiring in 1999. Along with her late husband John, Betty operated a tax accounting business for 56 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg.  In her spare time, Betty enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels, drawing and painting, gardening, serving as treasurer of the Sears Retirees Club, spending time with her pets, volunteering at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, exercising with Silver Sneakers, and vacationing in South Carolina with her husband John. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by three children: her daughter Cynthia and her husband James Linderman of Ruffs Dale; her son Scott Gillis and his wife Kimberly of South Greensburg; her daughter Tamara Gillis and Jeffery VanBoskirk of Mechanicsburg; her grandchildren: Gary Delligatti, Jessica Linderman Kerlicker, James Linderman III, and Tara Hall; her great-grandchildren: Hannah Delligatti; Julie and Mya Kerlicker; Christine, Katelyn and Kimberly Linderman; and Chelsey and Wyatt Hall and her sister: June Golen of Vandergrift. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband John, her sister Margaret DiLiberto, and her grandson Todd Linderman.  A private family viewing and funeral liturgy will be held in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Private interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
